Upon witnessing her first belly dance performance, Yasmeena felt alive and immediately began studying the art form intensively. Yasmeena has developed her craft through an eternal love affair, coupled with diligent study and training. She studies privately with several of the most respected and revered performers and teachers throughout the New York City area, such as Shoshana & Jehan Kamal, and performed as a member of the prestigious Temple of Jehan dance company. Yasmeena has a star-quality that mesmerizes and charms her audience, and her beauty and grace is matched by her polished, refined and elegant performances. As a student of music, (Yasmeena holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music and has spent over a decade teaching music to school children of all ages) her goal is to captivate her audience with lyrical and artistic interpretations of all aspects of the music while maintaining the stylistic qualities and nuances of the dance form. by a famed NYC promoter, Yasmeena graces the stages of prestigious NYC banquet halls, restaurants, lounges and clubs. In 2009, Yasmeena showcased at the Decotach Fashion Model Show and was the featured entertainment at the 2009 Salon Envee Hair and Fashion Show. She modeled at the Avon 125th Anniversary Fashion Show at Madison Square Garden with Style Network’s famed make-up artist and fashion expert, Jeannie Mai in April 2011. Yasmeena has also lent her talents to a multitude of community, educational and charity events, including the Bottomless Closet Charity Fashion Show in December 2010. Her theater experience has brought her to the stage at the American Globe Theater in NYC’s theater district for a joint production entitled “Tradition, Myth & Fantasy,” with the Temple of Jehan Dance Company and Mosaic Dance Theater Company. Yasmeena has performed at the Manhattan Movement Arts Center with famed choreographer Brice Mousset in a production of “Romeo & Juliet,” and is a featured dancer in the instructional and performance DVD, “BellyDance with Fan Veils” by internationally acclaimed bellydance star, and master teacher, Jehan.
Yasmeena has danced for Wendy Williams and upon meeting Miles Copland, the American entertainment executive, best known for founding I.R.S. Records, she was invited and flown out to Hollywood to audition for a spot in the world famous Bellydance Superstars. In January 2011, Yasmeena performed for internationally acclaimed R&B superstar Mary J. Blige as well as Beyonce & Jay Z, Anita Baker, Russell Simmons, Nas, Taraji P. Henson, Gayle King, Jacob the Jeweler, Sean Puffy Combs, Angie Martinez and many other A-list celebrities as part of Mary J’s surprise Egyptian themed 40th birthday party extravaganza.
Her playful sensuality and ability to interact and captivate audiences of all ages promises for a truly unforgettable experience! While all performances are tailored to suit the needs of your specific event, every show is meticulously planned to the last detail with regards to music, her elegant, high-end and handmade designer costumes, timing and prop work such as, veils, swords, wings of Isis, finger cymbals, fan veil, fire tray, lotus candles, shamadan and folkloric cane.
